OUR STORY
Armed with a name, they felt it was finally time to launch their mattress company. After two years of manufacturing, prototyping and testing, we’re proud to present Bungaloom.
We believe that everyone has the right to a good night’s sleep that’s more connected to the natural environment and less connected to man-made chemicals. We also believe in the power of thoughtful businesses to enrich communities. Most “bed-in-a box” brands spend millions of dollars a year shipping mattresses to the United States from overseas and then disposing of the ones that customers return. To make our business more sustainable, we’ve elected to focus on our hometown of Houston and build nap pods and micro-hotels where you can try a Bungaloom mattress before you buy it. If you decide to purchase a Bungaloom mattress, we’ll throw in a few additional perks from our favorite local businesses - instead of spending hundreds of dollars to serve you annoying Facebook ads. We’re trying to sleep - and live - differently. And we hope you’ll join us.
-Cheers, Team Bungaloom
OUR MATTRESS
Our tree-foam based mattresses are made in the second ward of Houston with GOLS certified Organic Latex, All Natural Wool, and Texas-made GOTS certified organic cotton and pocketed coils.
Our mattress contain no polyurethane based memory foam or synthetic foam of any kind. Instead of toxic chemical flame retardants, we use All Natural Wool. In fact, mattresses like ours were illegal to sell until about 20 years ago when the U.S. government accepted wool as a natural alternative to flame retardants. To this day, chemical companies have lobbied extensively for chemical flame retardants to remain in nearly all American mattresses. We chose to exclusively use natural materials in our mattresses because we believe everyone has the right to a clean night’s sleep. But sleeping on a bed of natural fibers is also much better for the hot, humid Gulf Coast climate. Heat and humidity lead most mattresses to “off-gas” more harmful chemicals into your body when you sleep. With Bungaloom, you can sleep easy knowing that the only things being emitted from your mattress are naturally-occurring.
